No problem I thought I will make a second DVD copy using Platinum — Too clever for my own good thats me – a copy I got, but the only thing that was ‘transfered’ was the Two ‘folders’ indicating the programs titles – but nothing in them if that makes sense.
I selected “FULL DISC” as my DVDFab mode.
Any Help Please and indicator as to where I should post such an enquiery

I have revieved advice From Paul but prior to his reply I tried my Nero 6
software and it was succesfull I would still like to know why Platinum failed

Is this a unit that comes with a service, if so I think they use a special or different format. Put a copy of one that you made in your computer DVD, and check for file type in Windows Explorer. Also try clone mode.

Thanks Mack

It looks (please note the LOOKS0 as though the file a UDF formate, but nothing is written in stone with my obs.
I will try Clone setting but have some Info to check as reffered by Paul - signals
I hope there will be some way of copying these DVDs, it shouldn’t too occure often but will be important (Kind of) when requeird

Bore Da, Clive! My standalone recorder writes RWs UDF with an extra folder titled “VIDEO_RM”, but DVDFab reads and copies these discs with no problems, so I’m puzzled you are unable to make it work. Your standalone recorder may be different. What folders do you see if you open the disc with Windows Explorer?

#5

SHwd Mai (That will confuse the issue) So Hello
Windos Explorer shows
Two Files – Video - RM and Video - TS
But I notice that DVDFab SOURCE is looking for D;[DVD -VR[
Dont know if this is relevant.
Thanks for the +++++ efforts
Clive

Beunydd Gobeithia! This is just what it should have and DVDFab should be able to open and read it with no problem. I am puzzled. I will do a little more experimenting and get back with you shortly.

#7

Clive, try this: With the DVD that won’t read in the PCs player drive and DVDFab open, click on the folder icon in the Source line. It will bring up a box like the one in the illustration below. Click the + symbol next to the DVD_VR disc so that the folders inside are shown. Click on the VIDEO_TS folder. Its name should appear in the bottom of the box and X:\VIDEO_TS (where X is the player drive letter) should appear in the source text box up top. Click OK and then click on Customize mode and see if the boxes populate with titles, audio etc. If this should fail, try the same thing but with the troublesome DVD in your PC burner drive.

Da Iawn
we have the preview window active and the titles pane occupied but when I proced to ‘Start’ >>> I get >>>>
Analyizing of DVD started
Analalyzing of DVD succes
Copy process start
Task - failed – Error 400(39510232)
Process failed
We winning but but no medal yet
Sorry to be taking up SO much time!!!

And the same to you! Now we are making progress. Let me ask first what produced the above result–was it forcing the VIDEO_TS folder open or placing the disc in the burner drive (or both)? Also, Error 400 usually has a two digit number before the larger one, might you have missed it? It’s very important to know if it was there. In the meantime, try putting the problem disc in the burner drive (if you haven’t yet) and see what happens. After testing for the extra digits in the error code, go to Common Settings–>Read and tick the button that says “Ignore All Reading Errors Automatically” and see if that brings any improvement. My current theory, still under refinement, is that your standalone recorder is Possessed and attempting to spread its power through the agency of the unused bits on the DVD’s outer edge. As to the time, don’t give it a thought. I enjoy a good mystery and the forum provides an unending supply.

Good Evening
The Failed information occures after the disc had been read by DVDFab and an I attempt to copy to my – Samsung burner - I belive - (also called a TSST corp CD/DVDW SH-S1626 USB device) and instigated by ticking Start In the Platinum window. The disc is being read by a internal Matshita DVD-ROM SR-8588.
No there is no number or letter before Error 400, only thing there is an = sign
I.E. Task -1 failed Error=400(39510232)

(is there a way of sending an enclosure to the group?? I have made a 'print screen copy of the Platinum window which would help illustrate)
Tried using My Burner as a reader with the same error, also after changing the READ in Common Settings the same Error ocurred
Just a mention/reminder the My Burner mention above is NOT the original Phillips writer SORRY
Genuinely hope this is not a swamping of information!!!
I wonder where you get your patience from.
OK

Good Evening! Never too much information. You can include an image attachment in your post by clicking on the “Manage Attachments” button a couple of inches below the window you are typing in now. Put it in after typing everything you needed to say. Before attaching the screen capture, open Paint (or whatever) and crop the image to just the relevant area and save as a .jpg or .png. After you click on the Attachments button, a window will pop up. Click one of the Browse buttons and select the file, then click Upload. It will be magically attached and display at the bottom of the post. Re: the error code: If this looks like “Error=400 (39 510232)”, with a space between the 9 and the 5 it may be a problem or conflict with the drivers, but I don’t see why other discs wouldn’t be doing the same thing if this were the case. In any event, try this: go to Common Settings–>Read and change the I/O Mode (at the top) from Auto to SPTI using the drop down. Since an error code was generated, there should be an event log entry as well. Use Notepad to open C:\Documents and Settingsusername\My Documents\DVDFab\Log\DVDFab_Event.log. Highight the entry that produced the Error 400 and paste in into your next post so we can see what Fab was doing when the error happened. That’s a pretty good assignment, so report back when you can. Burner identification understood.
Hello Paul and Group
edited…QUOTE]Good Morning (Afternoon). Sorry none of the experiments produced positive results.:frowning: The logs are great, though. It appears your internal drive (if Windows is reporting the model correctly) is a CD-only drive (no DVD functions). This may or may not be correct.

from the log in several places:
11/03/2007 10:14:41 info Current Drive selected : 2:1:0 - SONY CD-RW CRX230EE 2YS1 [E] (Ide)
The external drive (TSST on USB) is failing to recognize the disc and cannot even read the basic disc information from it:

11/03/2007 09:41:58 warning Reading Disc Information have failed
11/03/2007 09:41:58 warning Reading media profile have failed after 4 attemps
This conflicts with the fact that windows read and opened the disc earlier. Not sure what is happening here. I’ll think some more and perhaps others will have useful input.

Clive
I think DVDFab always looks first at the drive on the IDE controller. Do you have Nero ( or other disc query utility) installed?

#16

Might try uninstalling the IDE that its on and reboot and let windows reinstall it and then it might show up right, just a thought
Jim

#17

Good Day (a Cover All) Paul
Yes there is a copy of Nero StartSmart 6 on the PC

I hope I have enclosed a Jpeg of the Drives
Fingers Xed
Clive

#18

Greetings. Put the problem disc in the Matshita drive and open Nero CD/DVD Speed and click on the “Disc Info” tab, and post us another screen capture (if it reads the disc).
Paul

#19

Hey Jimbo. According to Googled sources, the Sony is a CD only drive.
