Cleaning a DVD lens

I have a year old Apex 1500? 3 disk DVD player. Recently it started skipping and freezing when I play rented DVD movies. It palys music CDs fine. I tried using a lens cleaner from Discwasher and another from Maxell. The Maxell would not work at all (no Disk). The other one would play music and say that it had cleaned the lens, but I couldn’t tell if it had cleaned the DVD lens and the CD lens. In any case, the DVDs still skipped as befoer. I don’t think that it is due to scatches becasue it has happened with about the last 5 disks and none appeared to be scratched. Any ideas other than getting a new player? I have taken the case appart, but don’t see anyway I can clean the lenes manually. Thanks.

Take apart the casing, get a can of compressed air, blast lens from the side.

Yep, and if that doesn’t work, clean the lens with distilled water.

take a cotton swab dip it into the solution that come with your cd-lens cleaner discks and softly clean the lens witchout presing too much on them then wait a couple of minutes to dry out and try your movie if it works ok then youre done if not then restart from begining !
