Google Chrome will start to mark websites that transmit login data and payments unencrypted as ‘not secure’ in the browser. Google plans to mark all websites that don’t use HTTPS as unsafe in the future, Google Chrome’s security team writes in a blog.

I have somewhat mixed feelings about this. On on hand, I don’t like the amount of control Google has over the internet. Part of me wants to scream “you have no right to force other websites to do anything!” On the other hand, switching to HTTPS on all websites is not only the absolute best way to fight government wiretapping surveillance, it is also perhaps the only way prevent man-in-the-middle and man-on-the-side attacks.

:iagree: I despise the way they try to control the net and while this particular idea is only for the better, they continue force-feeding change for this/that, trampling on variety/privacy in the process and gain more control. Control seems to be what it is ultimately all about.

Use DuckDuckGo for search instead.
