I have a Samsung SH-S182M, in an I/O Magic external USB2 enclosure and can’t seem to get either KProbe or Nero CD-DVD DVD speed to read it. They both seem to work with my laptops internal combo drive (Slimtype COMBO LSC-24082K) but the results look horrid. Any suggestions?
neither Kprobe nor CD/DVD Speed support scanning with your drive. I doubt, this drive even supports scanning at all.
Are you talking about the LSC-24082K? Because the Samsung SH-S182M supports scanning with both CDSpeed and KProbe:
I don’t know if there are known problems using it in an enclosure, however, as I don’t have this drive.
@olyteddy: You could try copying the Nero WNASPI32.DLL file to the same directory as your CDSPEED.EXE file. It shouldn’t normally be necessary, but in some cases it is (and I haven’t figured out exactly when).
In KProbe you can see if switching between SPTI and ASPI makes a difference.
The combo is a LiteOn drive and it does support scanning (although it’s neither accurate with CD nor with DVD).
Got KProbe to see the Samsung by pasting a copy of Nero WNASPI32.DLL. I agree the built in drive isn’t suitable for scanning…
