MID : MUST 003
Type: DVD-R
Media Rated Speed : 8x (burn at 4x only with every Pioneer 110d every firmwares)
Write Strategy : SONY D21 (burned at 12x)
Pioneer 110D TBH RPC1 1.22fw with bitsetting.
Reads fine on a few other dvd drives.

I would post up some results from scans, but I can’t seem to get CDSpeed to work on Windows XP 64. Couldn anyone enlighten me with this ?
I heard that DVDInfo is not reliable or so.

  1. Crap media!!
  2. BS, DVDInfoPro is a good choice!

Maxell-branded 4x +R media, RICOHJPN R01, 8x burn by DVR-A09, RICOHJPN R02 strategy.

Whoa, really good!

Heres my first attempts at strat swapping on my A10XL 1.39.
Turned out very well I think for this media.
Memorex 4x(CMCMAG F01) using MBIPG101 R04 burned@ 8x

MID: MCC 02RG20
Brand: RiDisc (so maybe not grade A?)
Type: DVD-R 8x rated
Burned as: Create data disk
Burn strategy used: MCC 03RG20
Burned at: 16x speed
Burntime: 6:04
Drive: DVR-111D 1.19

Maxell-branded MAXELL 002 burned by DVR-110 at 12x P-CAV, using MAXELL 003 strategy.

#34

Awesome, thanks for the screenis too.

#35

Fujifilm-branded YUDEN000 T02 burned by DVR-110 at 12x P-CAV, using YUDEN000 T03 strategy.

12x P-CAV seems to work reliably for many media.

It saves about a minute compared to 12x z-CLV.

#36

Memorex-branded 8x +R media, MBIPG101 R04, burned at 12x P-CAV using MCC 004 strategy.

[MBIPG101 R05 maxes out at 12x Z-CLV, not very interesting.]

#37

Maxell-branded 4x +R media, RICOHJPN R01, burned at 12x using MCC 004 strategy.

Same disc and strategy as above, restricted to 8x.

Hi all -the 112 series is shipping w/ FW 1.09 and 1.15 is available at Pioneer. I just wrote them because I’m pretty unhappy that I got this drive today as an upgrade from my well-loved DVR-109 so I could burn DVD+R9 at 8-10x as advertised. Put in Philips DVD+R9 8X blanks (CMC MAG D04) and the burner only saw them as 2.4X. Flashed to 1.15 still no help.

I looked at the FW in MediaCodeSpeedEdit and see that it lists CMC MAG D01 and D03 as 8X, but no D04. The monkey at Pioneer replied that I should return the drive for factory service or see if the dealer would exchange it - since the discs should be compatible according to their specs - what a joke!
I pointed him to their document here: http://tinyurl.com/2xf5ff
that only says CMC DVD+R9 go at 8X without the specific media codes and told him their firmware was not updated…no further reply.

Anyway, MCSE will not allow me to edit the 1.15 FW (too new I guess). I can edit the Pioneer 1.09 or Buffalo 8.06 (which is also available as an RPC-1 patched version at TDB), so I was thinking of doing this and flashing back, but the author doesn’t recommend modifying the +DL codes. Has anyone tried this with success? Also, are the 1.09 and 8.06 FW equivalent?

In a related SNAFU, I can’t seem to get DVD Identifier to work on my PC - yes I have ASPI installed, it shows DVDID as running in the task manager but there’s no window for it! Can I get the full media code and import it another way? Or can I just manually change the existing D03 code to D04 and hope for the best…?

Thanks in advance for your help - a frustrated burner

Welcome to cdfreaks
Pioneer released a detailed 112 1.15 Supported media list, which does not contain your CMC MAG D04 media.
The safe way to burn DL disks @8x write speed is to use Verbatim disks. You could rename CMC MAG D03 to CMC MAG D04 with MCSE, but this voids your warranty. Also I have some doubts that the CMC disks reach the same quality level.
