Change write strategy for different manufacturers of Verbatim?

I’m getting pretty bad scans for the MIT MCC004 Verbatims manufactured by Prodisc. However, I get great scans for the MIT MCC004’s manufactured by CMC.

In this thread, it’s suggested to reset the learnt media (not sure about Hypertuning), when changing from CMC to Prodisc manufactured Verbatims.
Would “clear OPC history” help, too?

That said, is there anyway to avoid resetting? Can I add a write strategy for another brand of MCC004’s? I don’t think you can open the FB firmware for the 20A4P in Omnipatcher.

No, you can not, because the drive can not distinguish the Prodisc and CMC made disks, as they should have identical MID and revision codes.

The best thing to do for the Prodisc Verbs is:

  1. Avoid them.

  2. If you can’t avoid them, burn them at 6x and/or turn Force Hyper Tuning (FHT) on.
