I have searched the internet for an answer to this problem. Hopefully you all can help. Please hear me out.
I use an HP Pavilion with Windows ME. Several months ago, I added a new CD burner to my system. (To replace the factory burner. I have the new burner and a factory DVD/CD-Rom drive below the new drive.)
They worked fine until a few days ago. Suddenly, the CDRW drive would not recognize my blank CDs, audio CDs, or any other CD that, before, always worked.
I discovered that there may be a conflict between the original software for the factory drive--Adaptec Easy CD/Direct CD--and the software for the new drive--Nero.
So I reformatted my system, removed all Adaptec software, and then installed Nero alone. Nothing is working. The CD goes into the new drive, a green light blinks, then it stops. The Device Manager says it (the new drive) is "working properly." The computer recognizes the drive itself. Sadly, the drive won't recognize discs and therefore I can't burn anything.
