CDRW Drive Trouble

My JMLS XJ-HD 1665 DVD-ROM recently stopped working, so, I took out that drive and put in a DVD-ROM drive from another computer, works fabulously. But, windows no longer recognizes my CD-RW drive (ashamedly, I have no idea what the make/model of the drive is without looking at it.) The cables are securely connected. How can I remedy this?

Did you check/double check the jumper settings on the drives. One should be master and one should be slave. Sometimes setting Cable Select on both does not work (CSEL). Just a thought. It has happened to me before
