CDR-W´s Problem

vbimport

#1

 Hello, everyone.

I´ve 3 differents brands of CDR-W
- Computer USA media
- Boether
- First Line

I have a creative CDR-W 6424.
I noticed that I can not burn any data into those media´s with CloneCD, or NERO (an MEDIUM ERROR APPEARS) But I can erase all of them with full erase mode.

I thought it was a hardware problem (with my cd recorder), then I tried to record a backup CD into a CD-R and it worked fine.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Is there any software to it?
Thank a lot
Heinicken

Do you have any packet writing software to test with?
Ahead’s InCD for example… Or maybe you have XP, and can test with XP’s built in burning system…

This should be in the general hardware forum really…

Yes, I just tried to burn some files with XP built in burning system and didn´t work.

And now, what should I do?

#4

have you formated them ?

#5

b4 you burn to the cdwr using Clone check the laser calibration option

try this and see how you go

btw are you able to burn to cdr successfully?

#6

>b4 you burn to the cdwr using Clone check the laser calibration option

It didn´t work

>btw are you able to burn to cdr successfully?
YES

#7

>have you formated them ?

Don´t kown, can I do that? Is this the same as ERASE.

#8

you only want to burn an image. you only need to format cdwr’s if they are to be used as “floppys” where you can add/remove and access data from the cd. this is used with programs such as INCD and directCD and a few others

if you have access to nero you could use INCD to format a cdwr to see if you are able to. if you can’t then i would try either burning to the cdwr in a different burner and/or try different media

and i strongly recomend installing kazza if you have lost your packet writing software

#9

i have had it b4 when there have been conflicts and i have been able to erase but not burn an image

it could be that you are running to or more burn packages and they are conflicting

uninstall all your burn sw and reinstal only one and then try to burn the vcd

it might be this if it is you can fix the issue by renaming a file…been awhile since i’ve had to do in nero i think it is a .vxd file that needs to be renamed

one of the vets here will be able to help with this one

Again,
over and over again.
I get an error message when burning anything to CDR-W with NERO.

Another interesting thing:
burning a CDR-W after the simulation above it will work fine!!!
I am

See, I have to simulate using a CDR before burning a CDR-W!!
Please help!

if you have only used nero to burn i would suspect it could be a problem with nero…i have had some trouble with the past few updates…it was the updates themselves that caused the problems.

try uninstalling nero and then regcleaning and install nero with the latest update…or if that is not possible try a different burn sw

remove anyother burn sw that you are running

i am sure that this is a driver issue between Clone and Nero. you will correct it by renaming the nero .vxd dll (i think it is called vxd) i’m not sure what the file needs to be renamed too…i haven’t had to do this in a long time.

try posting in the Clone forums…

Your burner is not one of the highest quality. The CD-RW media is basically generic and could be coming from anywhere. It is probably lower quality media. The combination could cause media compatibility problems.

Try using good quality branded CD-RW media and don’t use the simulation feature. It just wastes time and serves no purpose when burning to CD-RW. If the write fails for any reason, just erase the disc.

#13

Uninstalling didn´t work.
I have removed all burning sw and I´ve tried to burning with Nero then I´ve uninstalled Nero and installed CDmate. Both didn´t work.

About a quality media, I tested a HP CDR-W and Memorex CD-RW and didn´t work either.

Please god help!

#14

heinicken is saying that in his case he can only burn to a cdwr if he uses simulate write…he is not using simulate just to waste time.

there are driver conflictions present that is your problem

heinicken:
uninstall all your burn sw and remove all drivers if prompted you can leave on. then regclean. then install one burn prog at a time and test if it is working

I installed my CD recorder at my dad´s computer. Also I installed my burning sw too.

It didn´t work either. I got the same error.
My Dad´s computer uses Windows 2000 Pro.

I was wondering if certains media (CD-RW) could damage my recorder? Is it possible?

#16

I solved my problem, I bought a new recorder.
Thanks to all of you that helped me with this annoing assingnment.

Bye:cool:
