I have a CD that my PX-708A won't read - what's more it locks up the drive so that it can't be used again until after a hard reset. A CloneCD copy of the disk has the same effect.
The CD is a driver disk from M-Audio, and has two filing systems on it, for PC and Mac. All my other drives read it perfectly, including older Plextors. CD Diagnostic tells me the disk has no problems.
I emailed Plextor, and they gave me an RMA. But the problem is exactly the same with the replacement drive! (Firmware: old drive 1.03/1.06, new drive 1.06). It looks to me like a design or firmware problem.
So I emailed Plextor again, and they said - "it's only one CD, so it can't be the drive".
Has anyone else seen a similar problem? Can anyone suggest how I should go about making Plextor look into this problem seriously?
