Cd\rw-dvd

Hi, I’m new to this forum, and new to formating cd\RW DVDs. I can copy files to my CD\DVD drive…but I can’t format it. I am using a Dell Pentium computer, which was given to me. I suspect some software never made it to the HD. As I have no software, system file disk, I have absolutely no idea what to do.

I love computers, but they can lead us all to tears sometimes.

Hey Pet,

Your Dell came with a nice blue, green or purple reinstall cd. If you put this in your Dell machine, you can restore all the original software.

are you trying to format your drive or your disks?

CD-R and DVD±R need no format, they will be formatted during the burn, and are not rewriteable.

RW media (either cd or dvd) can be formatted, but comes usually alread formatted, read for use.
