CD Rot

I have been noticing many of my cdrs in my cd wallets have developed little holes towards the outer edge of the disc. these are all the audio cds i keep in my car about 200+. Even some discs that haven’t been taken out of the wallet since they were put in have this effect.
2 questions.
Why is this happening? And what kind of portable storage would be reccomened for my audio cds in the car.

And my dvdr backups i have been storing in same type of wallet that is in the car, but kept in my home. Could these possibly develop the same problem?

Also suprisingly about half of the discs suffering this fate are TY!

The problem is likely the wallets, they are not intended for long term storage, especially if they get warm.

do you have any suggestions to storage other than a wallet, or maybe a specific wallet to use?

Jewel cases or spindles

#5

Yeah but its kind of hard to go through a spindle to find one specific cd!

Maybe I will just have to let them rot and reburn when they’re dead:sad:

And I don’t even want to think about putting 200+ jewel cases in my car:o

You might consider a file case with paper sleeves, where the discs rest vertically.

Thanks for the input, I’ll look into it.
