CD Freaks Presents: QNAP TS-439 PRO, TS-639 PRO & TS-809 PRO NAS reviews

This latest NAS series from QNAP includes three products, from a 4 hot-swap HDD model to a high end model with 8 hot-swap slots. They all include two Ethernet LAN ports for load balancing, fail-over or to connect to two separate networks and 4 USB ports for connecting external USB drives and printer sharing. The TS-439 and TS-639 include two eSATA ports. All include an LCD display for status, quick-setup and displaying its IP address.

For those who are not familiar with what a Network Attached Storage (NAS) is, it is a file server for sharing content between PCs and network devices on a home or business network. For example, one can store their entire movie collection on a NAS and play them from any network media player or PC connected to the network. These can also provide much faster transfer rates than with a USB or Firewire hard disk, with read transfer rates in excess of 100MB/s with suitable hard disks and a Gigabit network connection on these QNAP products.
