I just posted the article CD Freaks forecasts 2005.

The end of the year is near and 2005 is just around the corner. The year 2004 brought us a lot of improvements in DVD burning and we can certainly say that in 2004 DVD burning became a common thing to do. Increased speeds and dual layer burners are probably the most exciting things to mention about the year 2004 but will 2005 be boring?

I’m surprised you don’t have a single word about DVD-RAM, as Philips/BenQ announced super multi drives for the first half of 2005 (I guess “super multi” implies the RAM media format also), and other PC makers, like Toshiba, now include super multi drives in an enlarged number of laptop models…

Nothing mentioned about DVD-RAM? 8x DVD+RW drives are available: LG GSA-4163B, Plextor PX-716A & Lite-On SOHW-1673S!!

Likely nothing is mentioned about DVD-RAM since very few people have the desire, need, and money to use it. Personally, I find that to be rather sad since I prefer caddies enclosing optical discs; much better for secure data storage.
