Hi,
I just purchased a Dell Studio 540 Desktop with an internal IDE CD/DVD burner - in device manager it is listed as “PLDS DVD± RW DH-16A6S ATA Device”.
Formerly known as Liteon
I tried to write CD-TEXT in both Itunes and Media Monkey - Both returns errors when that option is checked. Also tried the NERO infotool - It shows this drive not have CD-TEXT capability.
You may use ImgBurn to see the drive’s capabilities. Nero Info Tool is buggy: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f105/ts-l632h-similar-slim-drives-discussion-thread-241399/#post2021306
No idea about these softwares you are using. I have half a dozen drives (even more ), and I have no problems with CD-Text. I’m using Nero 6.6 for that purpose. The free Burrrn should work also. Additionally, you might try the Roxio software that is normally preinstalled on Dell computers.
I would replace thie internal drive…
Is there an additional drive bay?
or get a USB. I have check all over Google and spoke to a few managers… that dont even seems to know what CD-TEXT writing means…
You mentioned LiteON drives -
As not recommended for CD application.
I see they have external USB - eSAU208
Why waste any money on an external slim drive. If you want to buy an external drive, then get a Half Height
… but there is no where it says clearly that it WRITES cd-text
I guess, since this feature is common for all CD writers nowadays, they don’t mention that
