CD Burner stopped burning CD's or DVD's

[qanda]This thread is about the NEC DVD RW ND-3520. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]I have two CD burners installed in My WIN XP PC (desktop) as follows:

NEC DVD_RW ND3520A
LITE-ON LTR-48125W

I recently upgraded this PC with a new Dual core AMD CPU and MSI motherboard and new memory, and then reinstalled a fresh instance of WinXP pro, along with all the software I needed.

Everything was working just great until I found out that my CD burning software will not recognize either of my two CD burners. These devices worked before I reinstaled the OS, but not after.

These two drives read CD (& DVD’s for the NEC drive) just fine.

Any ideas what could have caused this?
Typically for CD burning software, I use Roxio Easy CD Creator v6 platinum, or the like.

Check DMA status on the drives. Here is a guide for this: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f61/troubleshooting-enabling-checking-dma-windows-vista-xp-2000-me-9x-101616/
The most important part is Current Transfer Status. It should be Ultra DMA Mode.

If that doesn’t help, you can try removing upper and lower filters: Microsoft has a guide for this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

You may also want to try a different burning app. Try ImgBurn.
