Case for a Cheap Build $29.99 and free ship at the egg

Any one looking for a case for a cheap build:

I bought one for the wife a few months back (paid a little more). I am buying another one for me as my Antec 1030 (which is nice but a tank and very heavy), is just too heavy to carry out to garage to knock the dust off each month.

I also buy a second larger fan for the front (sits in front of hard drives). The largger 120mm fans are nice…even with two fans it is quiet.

It is light weight and I am sure too flimsy for serious folks who like to be constantly swapping drives. For a cheap build though it is nice, has great ventilation,

Here is a link to the fan. Not on sale and no free ship, but it is the one I bought for the wife and it is nice and quiet so I bought it also.

I thought this to be a pretty good deal, I have been watching for a sale as I believe the normal price is $49 and shipping.

That area in front that holds 4 DVD units is open unless you put 4 opticals in there. The bottom portion is hard drives, and that is where a 120mm fan can also be installed. It has a side vent that (and with my wife’s mobo fits exact to her cpu fan…direct air from the outside to her cpu). You could also mount an 80mm fan at that spot. Below the cpu side vent is also another open vent (but no holes for fan mounts).

I will be mounting 3 optical drives, 1 floppy, at least 4 hard drives, and I am not worried at all. It is deeper then my huge Antec by about 1 inch. It is not as tall (but to me that was wasted space on the Antc), and slightly more narrow.

My wife is running an Core2 Duo and it is running very cool. I will also be running a C2D.

They have to spend…my guess is $10 to ship the thing, so a $20 case is pretty good. I have spinal problems, so I have to get a lighter case. For this price I can not see how I can go wrong.

After running my current rig with 2 intake, 2 exhaust, 1 side fan (all 80mm), I will never go back to 80mm fans after I saw the air flow of the 120mm fans in the one I built for my wife.

What I will miss is the nice rails of the Antec for optical drive mounting. They just slide right out and then slide another unit in…those rail mounts are real nice. But that is all I will miss. Well…also the Antec is just heavy duty…when I close the side it sounds like a car trunk closing lol. The new case is thin…not as easy to put the side panel on…you have to slide it on…not slam it closed.

What I will NOT miss on the Antec is the 5 80mm fans. The 120mm fans…both the one stock in the unit and also the extra one posted are very quiet.

Correction

My current is is 1080 not 1030:

http://www.pcreview.co.uk/reviews/Cases/Antec_Plus_1080/

It is big…it is heavy…but nice if you can handle the weight when you need to move it.

The $29 case is just that…a cheap case…but I like it. if it was built heavy duty…it would be too heavy for me to move around

Also to go along with this deal they have an Antec Earthwatts 380 watt power suply for $29.99 after MIR with free shipping. This is an 80+ efficient PS and is excellent for low to medium builds.

I have 2 of these on the way myself (Sucker for CM Cases)

Also for just $10 more after Rebate The RC 690 has a great rebate deal now also. If your really want a “does it all” case for cheap

I’m using a CM 690 with the same Mesh front and top with 5 120mm fans in it. the big difference in these is the HDD sit facing out on the 690.

As for the EW 380 it a great PSU I have 2 a 430 and a 380 that are solid PSU’s for the money

The CM 690 case is heavy…as RoadHog mentioned he wants a lighter case…The CM Elite 335 is a good case…Get a CM R4 fan which cools very well.

I use those fans for the last few builds that I’ve done for friends & relatives.

Thanks DVD but I already pulled the trigger on the order, the fan I ordered prob does not push as much air, but the case has good cooling with that fan, as the wife has one, and very quiet, and I am after a quiet system after all the 80mm fans in current case…the 80mm are not loud on current case, but not quiet either.

Thanks for info though but too late for me.

Would have been nice to get the free ship on the fan, but it was only a couple bucks extra.

BTW nice link for Black Friday adds…I went to blog tab…downloaded the pdf.

I may brave the crowds this year and go out and look for some deals, I told myself i would never go out again on BF…but i may look around.

Expect lots of company… there will be loads of “SHOPPERS” but not loads of big $pender$ out there… so the stores might be left with more stock onhand which they will need further rounds of price chopping to get out of the store. Eventaully, the BEST deals might not be the doorbusters, but desperation price slashing such as the $250 32" lcd tvs we’ve seen advertised…
