Capture DV & Transfer to DVD R

Hi, I did some good tests with Studio 8 for captures and
conversion to MPEG2, and authored with TMPGEnc dvd author,
but found the menu graphical options too limited,
so recently i dwnld DVDlab, and registered for it,
and now i wanted to use VirtualDub for capturing,
but it doesn’t see my Canopus ADVC100 on my Firewire port…
i had no problems with Studio8, i was satisfied with the quality,
because TMPGenc dvd author did not re-encode this, which other
progs tried to do, okay it did complain about something, but the
result played fine on my standalone.
Where should i start ? what’s “wise” in my situation ?

you could try virtualdub_mod

it seems to be better with capturing devices

(don’t forget the drivers pack)

if you need help to find it…just ask

any form of VirtualDub can not capture from the firewire port.
I have a ADVC100 on order and this was my post on Doom9:

Thank you, what i want to do is grab/capture from my ADVC100,
brush/smooth it up, like remove the noise in the picture and the the typical VHS “artifacts”, convert it to MPEG2 file(s) to use it
in DVDlab, and add nice menu’s to it that are animated,
is it also posible to let the letters light/glow up, instead of a rectangluar erea over it, in the menu ?

moviextone could do all of the capturing and filtering…tmpgenc the mpeg2 conversion.

I think you need to make your own glowing buttons for use with dvdlab. I have not installed it right, so i can’t check it. I could do that next week…but that is perhaps to late for you

I have no hurry, i’m a beginner, i haven’t yet done a project
with DVDlab, need also more practice with encoding, etc.
I’m looking for a kind of detailed guide, done only some things
with Studio8…
