I am not quite sure where to park this post, so here I go. Moderator, please feel free to move it to a more appropriate forum if you wish. thx

I have several old band tapes on reel to reels, and wanted to know if Pinnacle Studio 14 HD can capture the audio using the DVC-100 USB device, or could I even use something like Cool Edit Pro,or something in NERO9, to save as a MP3 output?
I have a Sony Stereo-corder, not sure, just wanted to know if that would work before I drag it out of storage. I think it must have audio R/L RCA jacks, and so does the DVC-100 Dazzle device.
I did a search for recording off of a reel to reel, and the basics would be to plug in RCA jacks from the Source- reel to reel's Line-out, or tape-out into the computer's LINE-IN RCA jack. Then they.... (they being a Google search result) talk about using "Audacity", to perform this capture.
If Cool-Edit Pro, or NERO9 won't help me do this, then what would I possibly have on my computer that would? I haven't tried the Nero WaveEditor4 feature before.
These tapes were recorded in stereo, so I would want the best sound out as possible.
With Nero9,Cool-Edit Pro 2.0, and Studio14,I just was not sure if any of these would capture audio only.
I really hate to go out and buy another hardware/software title, but if I have to, to accomplish this task, then I will.
I thought if I simply plugged in the R/L audio jacks from an outside source into the computer, something would open up to help me....
