I'm trying to upgrade from v2.02 to v2.07. The program I downloaded (twice, to be sure the problems lies somewhere else)from the Plextor site starts to do it's job (erases some old version files, etc.), then I receive an error message saying that "the older version of Plextools v2.07 (!) cannot be removed". I have the laters firmware - 1.03. I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to computers, actually I bought the Premium for writting audio CDs - and I was rather dissapointed so far, but I will post about this after trying the Gigarec 0.8x first, this may change things - so I appologise for advancing some probably stupid possible explanations. Please help me with your knowledge:
- I had the Plextools installed, by mistake, both on C and on D. Of course, I uninstalled them, then installed again on C only
- my system is quite outdated, but within the limits recommended by Plextor: I have an AMD K6 / 400 MHz, 128 Mb RAM, Windows 98 SE
- there are some minor discrepances compared to Plextor recommendations, but I don't think these could explain my problem: DMA is not enabled, because the system would crush, so my reading and writing speed is limited to about 24x; I have the Premium as a master AND a Philips CDRW as a slave (I never use both of them at the same time anyway); my hard disks are in a strange relationship I don't completely understand personally, with the C (master) being an old 1.2Gb Western Digital and the D (slave) being a new 40Gb Maxtor (but it is seen as having only 33Gb, my old motherboard does not like it too big); Windows and Plextools are both installed on C
So, what else do you suggest before reinstalling Windows and trying again?
Thanks in advance!
