[qanda]This thread is about the Optiarc AD-7203A. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]I am really hoping someone can help me here - as I have spent days with Gateway support and searching the web.
I have a Gateway GT5670 that is a 64bit based machine running 32bit Vista Home Premium. I have noticed that (after deleting hi/lo filter reg keys) that I can read/write DVDs, burn CDs, read non-audio CDs but can't read audio CDs. I have tried 5 different CDs, all of which play on other XP/Vista machines and all of which are defect free (i.e. no scratches or chips).
I have gone to the NVidia site and download the latest graphics drivers as well as motherboard drivers. According to the ActiveX widgets on the site, I have a gForce nForce 520LE and have v15.23 installed (i.e. the latest).
The behavior when trying to play an audio CD is that it spins and spins, but I never get that steady hum like when I play a DVD or data CD - nor does the OS acknowledge that a CD is in the drive. Any thoughts on what is going on here?
Thanks in advance,
