Thanks in advance for any clues

I’m willing to think you are trying to burn a DVD that you bought…with this said you need a decrypter to do so like anydvd.

Assuming you are copy’n a personal owned dvd. Nero is not able to because it does not have a decrypting tool as most copy programs do not otherwise they would be shut down like a few others that were set with a decrypter combined. You must download either a decrypter from one of the many that cost$ or try the free ones like DVD43. I recommend AnyDvD from slysoft, it is the best and as for a program for copy’n One Click is also a Fav. but with AnyDvD works with many programs fine for burning with it.
Jenni

It wont burn anything… Tried dvd but am trying to burn data… However it does burn cd-r’s.

I’d be interested in why the attempted burn speed is 2.4x…

supported write speed is only x2 or x2.4

Can you run CD-DVD Speed, pop the blank disc in that you’re trying to burn, and tell us the MID info? This is found under the “Disc Info” tab.

Thanks

Here’s the disc info,

As far as I can see this is a 4year old burner that’ll only write DVD+R at 2.4x.

It clearly doesn’t recognise the more modern media you’re trying to burn so I think a new burner is your only real solution.

Also in Nero you’ve got MultiSession checked , did you mean this?

Your version of Nero is also quite outdated. I suggest using “Nero Clean Tool” (you can find it on Nero’s website) to remove your old version and update to 6.6.0.18. you can find it here

Thanks TimC, seems to make sense as i can’t burn anything… I’ll try a new burner and check. In response to wobble, still same problem, tried other burning software with same results.

Thanks for all responses!

As for a new burner the Pioneer 111D , Benq 1650 & latest Liteons are all good.

It depends on what he wants to do.

If you want to scan your discs after burning, get a BenQ or Litey (Plex are also ok but dog slow).
High quality: LG or Pio.
DVD-RAM: LG or Pio, maybe NEC.
CD burning: LG, Pio or maybe NEC.

Just to add to that, my BenQ 1650 burns CDRs nicely, too

My personal choices would be LG or LiteOn.

Or both!
LG for burning, LiteOn for scanning.
Don’t get a Litey if CD burning is important to you, and don’t get an LG if you absolutely want to scan.

Get LG if you want to enjoy speedy burns.
Oh, and if you like burning unknown or new media, get BenQ or Plextor.
