how are you deciding??

Can’t Burn Dual Layer Please Help

as your burn log shows that you are using the latest firmware and burning at an acceptable speed.

The disc eject upon completion and the message says the burn was completed successfully. However, the disc will not play in drive they were burned in. I also have Sony and Toshiba DVD stand alone playerd and it will not play in those either. The disc themselves show two burn rings (discolorization), you can see one layer used the whole disc, and the other layer only used about 1/2.

I have been using DVD Fab for years and this just started happening. I also tried a Plextor 740UF and the same thing happened. I thought it might be a software conflict so I did a clean reload of my computer and tried buring again before adding any programs and the same thing happened.

Thanks

Sounds to me like the problem was with ripping from the original disc rather than with burning. Has this problem occurred with more than one title?

I noticed you are using DVDfab 4.0.3.2. There have been some issues with recent versions, so I’d suggest updating to the latest version (4.0.4.0 beta, just released) and try again.

I have a tried several Dual Layer burns on a variety of movies and all have failed. I don’t have any problem burning single layer. I use the default setting in DVD Fab.

Thanks

Another thing you might try (to keep from wasting $$ DL discs) is to rip to the hard disk, then try to play the VIDEO_TS folder with your software player (e.g., PowerDVD or WinDVD). If it doesn’t play from the hard disk, you can be pretty sure it won’t play burned to a DVD.

I also have had problems recently in the last few versions burning dual layer. I am using verbatim DL and firmware is updated. Log says burn was successful and problem seems to be in the area where second layer begins. First layer plays fine. Finally got a successful burn using imgburn to burn the disc. Tried multiple players to both read and write. Have not tried latest beta version yet. Hope this helps.

Take the output video files from DvdFab, run them through FixVts, put these video files in a folder you create called VIDEO_TS & burn with ImgBurn in Build Mode.

Successfully burned a dual layer with the latest Beta version 4.0.4.0 using clone mode. Used Verbatim DL at 2.4x write speed and Vso Burning Engine. Used following settings: 8152 DVD-9 size, Unchecked remove layer break, Pathplayer enabled. Hope this helps with your problem too.
