Can't burn DL

hello,
i recently purchased this drive and have been able to burn TDK DVD-R’s on it just fine but when i use Nero 6.3 or DVD Shrink it spits the Verbatim DVD+R DL back out before it starts burning. Nero gives me an error saying “Compilation cannot be written on this kind of disc” and Shrink says “Please insert blank media”. do i just have a 109 that only burns single-layer dvd’s? i took a screenshot of the Nero Infotool and it says nothing about being able to read or write DL even though it does on the one in the review.

i’d really appreciate any information on this because i’m completely baffled. THANKS!!!

You have a really old version of Nero Infotool. Update to version 3.01 from this website, then update your screenshot.

thanks for the suggestion…i went ahead and did just that and the results are much better. now i know i’m not crazy!

i also reinstalled Nero just to be safe and i still get this error:

i imagine the DVD Shrink error is tied to Nero but i went ahead and tried it anyway…it spit the disc back out again and brought up a window with the following info:

HOW BIG is the source - where is that info???

#5

the files total 7500mb…it’s from a dvd i ripped to my hd with DVD Decrypter.

#6

Maybe updating to the latest version of Nero might help. 6.3 is a little on the old side.

Or, you could try burning with DVD Decrypter in ISO mode. I’ve always done my ISO burns (including all my DL burns) with DVD Decrypter because it doesn’t seem to have the kinds of quirky problems that I sometimes encounter with Nero.

BTW, you can attach images to your posts so that you won’t have to host them on another server…

#7

I can also recommend ImgToolBurn which uses the Nero API but gives perfect DVD-VIDEO discs.

i finally got it to work! the DVD Decrypter ISO burn was what did it. Nero did in fact mange to burn an ISO image of the files so it looks like it’ll just be a two-step process for me…i can live with that i’m just glad it works! i did try the ImgToolBurn but it gave me the same error that Nero did. i’ll probably just play around with it some more and try some other things but thanks a ton for all your help guys!

it’ll just be a two-step process for me

Why not just rip using DVD Decrypter’s ISO mode? Rip with DVD Decrypter, burn with DVD Decrypter.

Next gen protection wont be beat by it thats why as its discontinued.

I have zero issues with nero and only use the nero aspi not adaptecs POS.

Nero is legit software so they dont let you copy dvd movies so i either make iso with the above as you do or i run Slysoft’s Anydvd while using nero, i prefer latter, its far more supported and builds fly out weekly sometimes.
