Can't burn anything with my Pioneer 111D

#1

Just built a new computer last week and my dvd burner isn’t letting me burn anything but it seems to read discs fine can anyone help me? Here is the error message I get on the log file from nero. It doesn’t let me burn DVDs either but I don’t have a log for it because I uninstalled nero to see if it was the problem.

now I just reinstalled nero and it isn’t even acknowledging my dvd burner in nero burning rom, only my clone drive. It sees it in Nero info tool though, everything looks good there.

Appears to be a signalling problem. You need to use an 80 conductor IDE cable and ensure that the drive is running in UDMA mode.

Also get rid of this virtual/phantom drive stuff (VClone)

Brother Vlad

#5

Well the virtual clone drive never messed with anything on my old computer but I just uninstalled it and the process is still failing so I don’t think that was the problem. What do you mean by the IDE cable, I am using the one that came with the drive, I would think that is what I needed to use. I will go buy one I guess.

#6

Where did the copy of Nero come from? Was it supplied with another burner previously? I ask as it doesn’t seem to be recognising the burner correctly.

Perhaps try updating Nero to 6.6.1.4 from the Nero website.

Also the firmware is the original version (1.06) & really should be updated to 1.29.

#7

I will try a newer Nero. When ever I try and update the firmware I get the error: Failed to move to the kernal mode. Update program is terminated by occurring an error. I wonder if it is my IDE driver. I read on the reviews of my motherboard one guy said he couldn’t burn cds cause the IDE driver sucked but no one else mentioned it in the 20 other reviews.

#8

Have you tried booting your PC in Safe Mode to run the firmware upgrade. Sometimes this helps.

#9

It’s not the ide driver but the ide cable. Use an 80 wire one.
