What software are you trying to use to burn? Try a different app such as ImgBurn to perform a test.

They are set by the software I believe. But it’s irrelevant. The fix for your issue is to delete the filters, and you don’t have them…so there is nothing to delete. So, you are either looking in the wrong location or you have some other issue.

I assume the drive is reading discs? If the drive is IDE, try deleting the IDE channels and the drive and rebooting. If it is a SATA drive, try deleting the drive and rebooting.

Vista home, Medion laptop, Samsung SN-S082H dvd writer.

I used Nero7, iTunes. The PC doesnt see the writer anymore.
I read many posts in forums like
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/en-us
http://www.cdr-zone.com/forum/about4719.html
http://www.randomfix.com/2007/04/12/...dvd-rom-drive/

Still, the writer only has two short moves when I insert a cd or dvd and then stops.
I have downloaded and tried a lot of cd burning programs after the UpperFilters fix, but nothing helps.
As I read it in the forums, many users have this problem, it is a software problem, somewhere in the grey area between Vista and cd burning programs.
There must be a fix or patch to resolve this.

Any ideas?
