[qanda]This thread is about the LG GSA-H55L. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Hello cdfreaks,

I badly need help in burning DVDs as i havent even once been successful in doing so…

I checked Device Manager and i have 1 Primary IDE Channel, 1 Secondary IDE Channel and another 1 Secondary Ultra ATA/ATAPI Channel with an Exclamation mark. It says “This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)”.

Please see log below.

Hi alibot and welcome:

  1. DMA is off. The link will direct you to turn it on.

http://club.cdfreaks.com/f61/troubleshooting-enabling-checking-dma-windows-vista-xp-2000-me-9x-101616/

  1. Use better media. Verbatim (available locally) or TY is preferred.

  2. It appears you are using RW discs and these may cause more problems. Can you use +R or - R?

  3. You are in multisession (and not finalising disc which makes sense if you are in multisession) which can also cause headaches. Your best success will be to use a straight R (+ or -), turn off multisession and finalise disc.

Members would also like to know what you are trying to do (make audio CDs, backup data, etc.) as they may have additional suggestions.

Hello Jeff and thanks for the warm welcome,

I have already checked the DMA Settings in Device Manager and all those that have the word ‘channel’ in them had DMA enabled. Well I have a warning for 1 Primary IDE Channel and 1 Secondary IDE Channel. With the message below:

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

Will this have whatsoever effect on what i am doing?..

I’ll go try using +R or -R and see if it’ll work and let you guys know.

Thanks again and ill buy some Verbatim R- tomorrow. :iagree:

BTW, I am trying to backup some data as well as have tried burning an image. No problem with reading DVDs, only with writing… Thanks again:bow:

You should have your system running properly before trying to burn disc.
Without knowing what device is conflicting it’s hard to point you in the right direction.
Check your hardware device manager, and go from there
