The Denver eBay seller is clearly disclosing that modding instructions are not available.
My hunch is that nobody is buying the IP4600 who wants to print discs, so it may be some time before a mod is discovered. An IP4600 service manual would be one place to start.
Yes the seller did disclose this. I had purchased the 4600 for photo printing and general office printing, but after I found out there was a disk tray, I jumped the gun an bought one without doing the research.
There has got to be a way… I’m going to call canon tomorrow and see if they can get me some info about putting the printer into service mode, and taking it from there.
What I do know is that you can access the CD/DVD driver settings for the printer by editing the registry. However this is step 2. Step one is the firmware hack.
Start > Run > regedit > OK > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > ControSet001 > Control > Print > Printers > Canon IP4600 Series > PrinterDriverData
Look for a key named: CnmFSI_CDRSWITCH
Change the Value from 0 to 1
As always be very careful when making registry changes.
