Just a general query - I own an ip4500 Canon and have recently (and wrongly) purchased an ip4600 as a replacement (thinking they used the same ink carts) What I’m wondering is there any canon replacement thats out in the market at the moment that uses the same ink carts as the ip4500 - from research I can no longer purchase the MP610 in Ireland - is there any other replacement - thanks in advance Ro
I own an iP5000 (same carts as the 4500), which has recently started to die, so I have also bought an iP4600…I´m perfectly happy with it as far as quality etc goes, but would have liked to continue with the same.
It may be not too late to find a 4500 or 5000 on eBay…have you tried that?
For example, a refurbished 4500 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Canon-Outlet-PIXMA-iP4500-Refurbished_W0QQitemZ270469133038QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CamerasPhoto_Printers_Printers_JN?hash=item3ef93772ee&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
Hi - thanks for the replies - I too am happy with the ip4600 but in terms of the ink size carts and also the speed in which it prints - its a very poor second to the ip4500 - I have seen some refurbished canon on ebay but was curious to know was there any other machines similar in spec in particuar ink etc - please let me know if ye have any luck - thanks again Ro
If the failure is due to the print head these can be obtained for £30 - £40.
I have replaced the head on my son’s IP5000 and it prints as new.

Good point…I´ve still got the 5000…I´ll have a look around and see if these are easily obtainable here in Germany
