Cannot copy DVDs created with convertXtodvd

all the dvds I create with VSOs software are uncopiable. I want to burn one original from avi files, then use Nero or clonedvd to do multiple copies of that disc, but clonedvd fails 2 seconds after starting

Nero just plods through the DVD but creates an unplayable disc, with results similar to if you were trying to copy a VHS tape but gets a crappy output

I have also tried getting convertXtodvd to make vob files without burning, then using clonedvd or nero to burn the results, but this turns out the same, does convertXtodvd lock its outputted files?

Anyway - short answer - NO.

Those files are not locked or encrypted in any way. Something else is causing your problem.

just shows ive been using the search feature well :slight_smile: found everything I wanted so far

ok, well not sure where to start with testing, it doesn’t seem to be software specific, it happens with nero and clonedvd, I can burn other files no problem created with winavi for example, but have big audio sync issues with that software

guess if there is no solution, then would anyone reccomend any alternative software that creates basic menus like VSO’s software, Nerovision is a pile of pants aswell, unless there are any new versions that work!

Are you trying to make a DVD from already burned DVD?
Or are you using “copy disk” function on those programs?

First one will most likely not work properly, but second one should.
Disk created with ConvertXtoDVD is standard VideoDVD and it can be
copied like any DataDVD. All it contains is video_ts (and audio_ts) folders,
all video data inside video_ts folder.

Your problem might be bad disk - first version you burned to disk was already bad
so checksums are incorrect and copying DVD is not working.

Hard to say without any logs.

I am doing a direct copy from the originally created disc, well not direct, but via HDD image “off the fly”

also, just did a test with nero and it failed, heres the log

Nero log is hebrew to me.
But there is few points where it says “reading failed”.

Can you copy contents of that DVD to harddrive?
If you can, then there is nothing wrong with that DVD, if you can’t, then that disk is faulty.

i’m not to familiar with nero’s logs either but my 2cents would be a problem with the virtual drive for the image or the medium error in the log? i’m not a pro at all the burning software in existence but i have a fairly good knowledge of the popular titles as well as an a++ in hardware as a master tech… good luck i’m sure some of the video conversion guru’s on this site will help you if my 2cents doesn’t help you troubleshoot your problem

if so maybe the structure is bad???

right, just tried what you said, copying files off, which I dont think I have tried before, when copying the last file off (vts_02_3), it throws out a CRC error,

I tried another one of the DVDs VSO had created, and it gives an error on vts_01_1

so, does this mean VSO is throwing out bad VOB files? Will play on a DVD player but are uncopyable…

This means that either your DVD medias are bad quality, your burner is faulty or you burn with too fast speed for that media.

Try first lowering speed to 4X or 2X. Then check result, if it works, then it was speed.
If low speed is not helping, then try different brand of media.
If problems with all media brands then your burner might be faulty.

One thing to check also is system problems, advertizing software or trojans might cause problems, as might other burning software (if installed).
Check also that you do not have multisession enabled when burning.

I’ve converted 100’s of vids w/VSO and if the report log says i have a good conversion and the original vid is not seriously bad, then the DVDs i burn always look as good as they can concerning whatever source vid quality is.

I NEVER saw it create a bad DVD compilation.

this thread really should be in the Nero section as it is very very unlikely to be related to VSO creation of the files as noted above several times.

i have the same problem !!! i can look them on my dvd player with no problem … but when i try to copy the disc on my pc or on 4 others … with every different program there is … it fails :doh:
