Turn DMA on for your CD-RW drive (and any other optical drives or hard drives in your system). To do this, double-click on the “System” icon in your “Control Panel”, click the “Device Manager” tab, click the “+” sign next to “CD-ROM” (or “disk drives” for your hard drives), double-click on the icon for your drive, click on the “settings” tab, and make sure that there are checkmarks next to “Disconnect”, “DMA”, and “Auto insert notification”. The “Disconnect” and “Auto insert notification” ones aren’t necessary for DMA, but they should be enabled. Then, click OK, click “OK” if a warning message appears, and finally, click “OK” in the “System Properties” box. When the computer asks to be restarted, allow it to restart. DMA should then be enabled.
