Cannot burn data to DVD +R or DVD -R

Hi,

I am having this problem of writing data to DVD. I wanted to take back up of about 4GB (< 4.7GB DVD size) worth of pictures, but the burning always fails. I am using NERO 6 (OEM), and also tried SONIC too…but no luck so far. Wasted about 5 DVD. I have also tried to burn data as image , and attempted to write but again no luck. Below is the log file from last run (that was burn image ).

NOTE: It was workiing before, then my O/S , which is Windows XP SP3 crashed and had to re-install, since then could not burn any DVDs

Please help…

Thanks

You are using really crap media!

Get Verbatim or TY media.

Thanks for the response,

But I did tried with other brand media i.e. PLAYO also, using which I burned about 15 DVDs before my system crashed… Now after re-install of OS, it doesnot burn.

@ pratikpatel1,

As Forum Member chef suggests in posting #2 use known proven quality error free Media such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim Media – “PLAYO” Media is not quality error free Media - “PLAYO” Media is “really crap media”.

Suggest for troubleshooting installing the ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com) software program. After installing the ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com) software program use known proven quality error free Media and Burn a Disk. Then post the ImgBurn Log File.

Regards,
bjkg

Hi, I did with Memorex DVD Media. It failed also. Havenot tried with Verbatim, will go and have to buy. But I have heard Memorex is also good media…so I borrowed one from my friend:

@ pratikpatel1,

Whoever you “heard Memorex is also good media” from is out to lunch. Memorex doesn’t manufacture any Media and contracts the manufacturing of Memorex Branded Media to a Media manufacture usually CMC Magnetics Corporation which is reputed to be one of the worst manufacturers of CD and DVD media on the market ->

Once again suggest using known proven quality error free Media such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim Media.

And once again suggest for troubleshooting installing the ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com) software program. After installing the ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com) software program use known proven quality error free Media and Burn a Disk. Then post the ImgBurn Log File.

Try burning less than 4gbs.

As already stated, Memorex media is not good. I agree with the others in using TY or Verbatim media only, save yourself the hassle.

That said, the error you are currently experiencing is identical and happening at the same point early in the burn process, which leads me to believe that media is not causing your current problem.

Your burner is listed as a “Generic” burner, maybe it’s defective and time for a replacement. If your burner is a name-brand, that it is listed as generic suggests to me that there is some other software or configuration problem.

Disable “Multisession type: : Start multisession” and use better media with this burner…

This time I copied the files to my laptop, and burn the data DVD using same all three medias mentioned before, and burning was successful.

So I think it is not issue with quality of the media… Looks like issue with optical drive or configuration of hardware in Windows XP sp3…

Any help how to diagnose further to target culprit…

@ pratikpatel1,

If you are using UME02 DVD-R and/or RITEKF1 DVD-R Media or ‘Playo” or Memorex Media you in fact have a quality of Media problem which you appear to choose to ignore.

If you doubt that either UME02 DVD-R and/or RITEKF1 DVD-R are poor quality problematic Media suggest performing a Google Search (http://www.google.com) on UME02 and/or RITEKF1 which will document this fact.

If you perform a Disc Quality Scan of your Burned UME02 DVD-R and/or RITEKF1 DVD-R Disc you will easily see that this Media produce less than desirable results.

Once again if you desire consistent quality error free Burns use known proven quality error free Media such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim Media.

Also when making additional postings in this thread provide the ImgBurn Log File as twice previously requested.

bjkg
