Hi,

maybe somebody knows where the prob is:

after booting the PC without cd-r or DVD i put one of them into the drive. After clicking on one of the drive icons.
Message: no disc
changing of discs doesn´t help

booting with discs in I can change CD-R´s , DVD´s - they are
recognized as a CD-R or DVD

after changing several discs the name of the first one remains always the same for the others

Where can the prob be and how it can be solved?

Help is highly appreciated

not very sure of what you mean. when you say change boot pc without cdr or dvd, do you mean the discs or drives?

As for the second part I partially grabbed, try refresh for name change to appear. ie: in windows explorer

Windows doesnt always catch that untill a refresh.

Very starnge. Do basic troubleshooting.
Check DMA settings. Check Master/Slave combo, try changing. Avoid Cable Select.

What O/S are you using??? If 2k or XP then

Try bootup into Safemode, erase all drives in device manager and also erase ide channells, try to reboot and have Win put them back, maybe its a small glitch that can be resolved.

Make sure you have latest chipset drivers for motherboard, maybe even update BIOS, and maybe there are better Drive drivers themselves.
Do Windows updates.

–All I can think of off hand for now.
