these are maxell 12x cdrw discs.
made by mitsubishi chemicals.
these discs have worked well up until now. i've had these for almost 2 years i think.
If i just put 100mb of garbage data in the beginning, quick erase, and then append data to that, the cd will be completely readable, since i bypass the "red" sectors.... and it seems to be all 'green' sectors after that.
but i'm wondering if a simple erase can get rid of all those red blocks.
EDIT: I just erased this same disc at 4x speed, and burned 100mb of data to it at 8x speed. I did a scan disc, and this is what it looks like:
all green! so maybe i CAN save these discs..
this test was done with a lite-on drive. I tried a LG burner, and that LG POS couldn't even read a perfect cd.
