[qanda]This thread is about the Optiarc AD-7201A. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]I have searched the forums but can't seem to find the answer so thank you in advance for your time.
I am running XP SP3 and the Optiarc AD-7201A optical drive. I also have another DVD drive which came with the computer, the Optiarc was bought as a replacement for the old DVD RW that stopped working correctly.
I installed the device and Windows Xp found the deivce and installed the drivers. However the icon in My Computer didnt come up and it would not recognise the Nero DVD or Microsoft Office 2007 DVD (it was next to the computer).
I then upgraded the firmware to v1.06 (I didn't realise there was v1.09 or programs like bin flash at this point), The installer said it was sucessfully complete and that I needed to resart, which I did.
Again the same problems with the DVDs. I then found v1.09 of the firmware, when I load this it says 'Target optiarc AD-7201A is not found correctly'. When I load a DVD I get the error G: is not a valid Win32 application and Binflash does not find the drive for me to install the new firmware or take it back to the old firmware.
I am stumped so any help would be most gratefully received or shall I just send it back?
