Can RICOHJPNR01 burn @ 8x?

I just got 100pk ricohjpnr01 today. First disk i popped into my liteon 411s modded to 811s. I have the option to burn 8x on the ricohjpnr01, i think i turned that on through omnipatcher a while pack. Currently burning a game, and its struggling through the burn, spinning up and slowing down, but it is burning the thing and progressing toward 100%.

Sure… your drive @811 should be able to handle this media nicely at 8X :iagree: by default. No need for omnipatcher at this stage.

But, Omnipatcher is always handy if you wanna try some other writestrategy or the fast-speed shift… :wink:

It will burn at 8x, take a look…

However with my drive (the 2500 with Herrie’s FW) I found it burns best at 6x, like below

Kprobe scans of 8x look bad. I had high pi/po. The media code is RICOHJPNR01-02.
I noticed that the spinning up/slowing down throughout the burn is probably the main reason why the burn is bad. 4x is solid burn. My drive is a 411s -> 811s HSOK. It could be the drive, my drive was manufactured in october 2003, which i heard is bad.

My 401S was manufactured in July 2003.
