Thanks very much for looking!

The master/slave arrangement is fine - you’re sure the little jumper on the back of the LG is set to MA(ster), right?

About the log, it’s funny that it should say this:

Connected to MMC as unknown drive with class-nr : 1

Is this the Nero version that came with the drive? You can grab the update to 6.6.1.4 from the Nero site. That might help.

Also, reduce the burn speed to 12X max with these 16X discs.

Burn process started at 16x (22,160 KB/s)

Yes, I’m pretty sure it was set to master, I’ll check again to make sure though.

The Nero software was given to me, the drive was OEM and didn’t come with anything, I’ll could try an update, but it may have been used on another machine, I suppose it would recognise this…?

The 12x max you refer to, is that in some separate setting somewhere? If you adjust it from the main screen it only allows 16, 8, 4 and 2x writing, and it only works on 2 and 4x.

Many thanks!

If your Nero has a valid serial no., you can update it to v6.6.1.4 with this download . It shouldn’t matter that it has been used on another PC. Since it’s a “Nero Express” edition however, it may be an OEM version that came bundled with another drive and not include full support for LG drives. If after the update, you still get “unknown drive” in the log, you’ll need a new serial no. This Nero update is the first thing to try and you may well see the 12X burn speed option after that (if not select 8X).

Ok, thanks!
My version of Nero is the full version but I was only using Express when trying to burn.

Just upgraded to Nero 7 premium and it’s just the same with that.
I’ll probably try the drive in another PC when I can.

Did you use Nero’s CleanTool to uninstall version 6 (download it from the Nero website)?

It’s the same thing with 7, you need to update to the latest available release (7.2.7.0) as early versions were known to be buggy.

Testing it in another PC would be good to confirm that it isn’t a problem with the drive (but won’t solve whichever problem it is on your system).

Ok, I’ll try that.
Thankyou!

Any new Nero 7 Error Logs are welcome! By the way, I learned that LG’s can’t burn DVD-R @12X (although they do so with DVD+R), so it’s normal you wouldn’t see that burn speed option with your discs.
