I have been ripping dvds from my home library to my HD using IFO mode in DVD Decypter which works well. The VOB files that are produced are not playable by WMP so I convert them to iTunes with Videora. That is cool because that allows me to load them onto my iPod or play them from iTunes like I bought them from the store.
What is NOT cool is that they are very crappy resolution, I don't get subtitles, or extra features. The whole point of ripping them is to be instantly available, and they are, but the quality deficiancy is starting to bug me. I would be willing to erase all of my work and start over for some higher quality rips.
I have used Gordian Knot, DVDfab, DVD shrink, handbreak and others ( I still use most of these on a regular basis when another doesn't work ) but I cannot find the combination that allows a HQ rip to my hard drive.
It is not necessary to use iTunes, in fact the ease of use of WMP is far superior for movies so I am open to suggestion.
What combination would be best for high quality. I know I'm going to feel stupid when the first person to answer provides the "DUH" I should have thought about that!
