Can anyone confirm/deny/point in the right direction?++>
I want to make a "high quality" ((not high def)) dvd recordings using my computer. It currently records from standard tv making standard dvd's. While the dvd is in 720 by 480 format, I assume this picture is not even dvd quality because the original source is "tv" which is only about 500 or so lines of resolution?
Am I right to think I only need to get a "high definition" capture card and a high definition signal from Comcast and THEN my computer will be able to "sample" the high def signal at the dvd standard?==or will the dvd programs somehow choke?
I would love to capture a real good dvd quality image for burning to dvd and this would be the way to go for a few years before the high def recorders come down in price?
((BTW, I was at Best Buy yesterday and I could not tell the difference between a high def image and an upcoded dvd image. I think if we can understand our option, high def could be done inexpensively???))
