Can anyone understand this? DVR-111D Problem

vbimport

#1

Hi,

I purchased a DVR-111D around Christmas because my old drive was starting to go out… As soon as I installed it it wouldn’t burn… It’d read and rip real well but would not burn… So i toyed with it and still couldn’t get it to work so I went back to my old drive… Well it finally crapped completely out… I tried the Pioneer again and still no go… I’ve tried everything I have found on the forum but I’m at an end… I’ve updated the firmware to 1.29, installed a new 80pin cable, tried different burning programs, different type of media and so forth… I’m using XP Pro with 1gb ram… The drive is running through an IDE controller card just as my last drive was… Any help would be greatly appreciated… Thanks…

This is the log Nero 7.7.5.1 gives me…

If you are running the Pioneer on a PCI card, then that is your problem. Most optical drives do not like PCI cards.

pfloyd1

you know… my bro-in-law suggested the same thing but I blew him off cuz my old burner worked fine this way… but when you mentioned it I tried it just for the heck of it… and it stinkin’ worked… lol… writing fine now…

thanks for the advice…

btw… how’s that NVidia 6200 256 MB working with vista… I’m gonna switch soon and build a new pc and was looking for a good video card… what kind of rating do you get with that config???

#4

Not the best media, but most of all PCI controller cards never support optical drives. Few support only CD drives, and fewer support even DVD.
The cheapest ones usually support HDD and ODD; because they have no own BIOS; weird world.

#5

The nvidia didnt give a high score, I put in an older ATI Radeon 9550 and got a real good score of 4.3.
