Can ALL Liteon CD-Writers get past Safedisc 2?

Can ALL Liteon CD-Writers get past Safedisc 2? I am thinking of buying this one:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/store/martprd.dll/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0203208066.1037448428@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccdadcgkgdjklmcefecfgmdffgdfli.0&page=Product&sku=648657
but only if it can get past Safedisc 2 (I want to copy Fifa 2003 and other games) Also, I have no experience in installing CD-Drives - is it difficult?

All LiteON above 12x (all with MTK-chipsets) can cut Safedisc.
And it’s not difficult to install a CDRW drive, just read the install guide
BTW your link is not working.

Thanks for the info…sorry…that link isn’t working, but if you go to http://www.pcworld.co.uk and then on the left menu, scroll on
‘Upgrades’
‘CD-Rom and DVD Drives’
‘CD-Re-Writers’

And then go the second Writer down (no model, but it just says LITEON
48X INT
REWRITABLE CD DRIVE
£49.99

That would work over Safedisk, right? My desktop computer is kinda old…PII 233MHz, 4GB HDD, 64MB RAM :s It would still install, right?

The 48x Litie should work fine with your old desktop PC, although i ain’t sure you will be able to write at full speed (aka 48x). Depends on the hdd and whether it supports UDMA…

Writing at full speed though is irrelevant to the final result, meaning that your SD backups will definetely work. So if writing at the max speed aint important, just go n’ buy the Litie

I don’t think that Liteon writers with a 1B at the end of the model name can do it.

…it doesn’t specify a model so I don’t know whether or not it has 1B at the end :s

True, because they are not MediaTek chipset, but Sanyo

my 12101B never cut the cheese to newer protections but the model or two after it did :frowning:
