hey all,

i have a sony-dru190a dvd writer that i would like to get working in win98. is this possible?

when i connect it, it does not recognise it and asks for drivers, but sony don’t support win98 any more. are there any generic drivers or anything that could make it work in win98 even a little bit? like cd reading at least?

cheers =)

the driver should be located in c:\windows\options\cabs, if you have another drive hooked up you can get the driver off of a win98 disc.

does the drive appear in device manager?

You may need an aspi layer in Windows 98

Then there is something wrong. Make sure, you have an 80wired IDE cable to connect your drive at first.
Also make sure, you have the latest chipset drivers for your mainboard installed.
