Buying an external hard drive

I’m clueless.

I am getting into digital photography and most people have an external hard drive for the sole purpose of keeping large files. I shoot in RAW which as an example one picture is anywhere from 9000 to 10,000 KB. And you can shoot about 125 pictures at one time.

So would a External hard drive be a good idea? I see them priced from 100 dollars on up and I don’t want to have to take a second mortgage out on the house.

Thanks
Melissa

An external HDD is a good idea :iagree:

My mum has one that she keeps all her music files on. It’s good because if her main internal HDD goes south, the music files are still intact.

I’d recommend Seagate. Just besure not to knock it off you desk hehe

Edit: External HDDs (amongst other storage ideas) are discussed in this thread, if you want to check it out.

Great thanks…oh I forgot to ask…Do they just simply plug into the computer? I’ll check out that thread. Thanks a millon.

Yep

Most of them are connected with USB2.0 these days, so if your PC has USB2.0 ports (it will if it’s fairly recent), just plug it in and away you go.

thanks!

You’re welcome!
