[qanda]This thread is about the Optiarc AD-7200S. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Hi,

Can someone please tell me why the dvd’s i burn on my pc won’t play on my standalone dvd player???
I have recently purchased a new pc (Pacard Bell) with Vista Home Premium. The standalone dvd players always played the dvd-r or dvd-rw previously. Any suggestions??
Ihave used DVDshrink, vso convert to x, dvd dycryptor etc nothing seems to work.

Regards Chris

Hi jocka06 and welcome to CD Freaks

First thing I’d say to check is that the discs are being finalised by the burning software. Otherwise they won’t play on anything.

Thanks for the response.
The programs state the burning is completed and the disc automatically ejects. They work fine on my pc too? This is really bugging me.

Yea sorry I meant that a non-finalised disc won’t play on anything other than the PC it was burned on. Just because a prog states that burning is completed doesn’t necessarily mean the disc is finalised.

OK try downloading CD-DVD Speed (from here), fire it up and put a burned disc in the drive. Click the ‘Disc Info’ tab and tell us what it says.

OK well that says ‘Disc Status : Closed’ which is finalised. So that’s OK.

Hmmm… are these a new box of DVD-RWs?

#8

Yeah but i used Philips DVD-R and still had the same problem?

Maybe you should try some DVD-R or DVD+R if the burner read +R media. And burn on those and give us a response as to how it went. I am doubious of the RW media for quality burns. Storage I think be ok but do backup DVD movies I go for DVD-R or DVD+R and booktype DVD+R to DVD-ROM.
