Burning speed

I burn my Verbatim DVDs with 4x speed.
What speed is the best for burning 16x DVDs. Is it real that 8x is better than 4x?

I would like to hear your opinions and experiences.

Depends on your burner and its firmware.

Usually I burn my 16x media at 12x, and occasionally at 8x with not-so-good media. Never been as low as 4x, though.

Often, again depending on media, burner, firmware, 4x can give worse results than at higher speeds.

With newer media I find that burning at, or just below the rated speed gives best results.
‘Slower is better’ doesn’t work with most of todays DVD dyes.

If not doing quality scans on various media and write speeds, then i would recommend these general rules :

DVD+/-Rs at 8x or max 12x.
Data CD-Rs at 32.
Audio CD-Rs at 16x.

Just my 2 cents.

Many members including myself are experiencing the best burning process with best quality when the 16X disc being burnt @ 8X or 12X speed.

Yo-

My Verbatim 16x +R MCC004’s do best in my LiteOns at 8x as does my Taiyo Yuden 8x +R T02’s-

And my Ritek and Taiyo Yuden CD-R’s burn best at 32x for data and 16x for audio-eh!

Hey I second to that fine sign that is prity cool.

Me too :iagree:
