Burning speed switching from 16x to 8x

ok, since i have a plextor 16/10/40a (yeah i know, it doesn’t do safedisc 2, but i don’t need it ! ) the only 16x medias i found around was some phillips 700 mb (purple cover) but i have a weird thing… when i burn at 16x and 12x with these CDR and Nero, burning speed switch from 16x (or 12x) to 8x after about 70-80% while burning…

burning finish succesfully and cd work great but i really wonder why this…

I’ll test later if it’s same thing with another burning prog - and with those CD-R TDK 12x i didn’t tryied yet - but any help welcome

I’m not exactly sure how it works, but isn’t this the burnproof technology, that slows down burning to make sure you don’t have a buffer underrun

I think this has nothing to do with Burn-Proof!
As far as I know works B-P this way:
If your read speed is too slow (and so a buffer underun will occur) the recorder memorizes his exact position and waits till there’s enough data to be written. Then writing will continue at the same position.

Maybe try some other Cdr-Media
