I got NEC nd 4350. When I burn DVD, the CPU usage is 100%. I can not do anything else. And the speed is not common. It costs 35 min to burn a 4.7G disk. What’s the problem? Thanks.

Sounds like the burner is in PIO mode. It needs to have DMA set on.

If you’ve got Nero then it’s info tool will simply tell you this.

First thing to try to fix this is go to control panel-> system -> hardware - device manager. Expand the IDE/ATA controllers & for primary & secondary channels check the advanced properties. Any attached devices should be set to DMA if available as the transfer mode & Ultra DMA mode (5+ for a hard drive & 2+ for an optical device like your burner).
I suspect yours is showing PIO. On the transfer mode select DMA etc from the drop down & close it all down & reboot.
