Burning slow after Flashing Firmware on SOHW-812S

vbimport

#1

I am running Win2K and burning with Nero. I have flashed the firmware from 812S to 832S, The burner registers as 832S now. When I burn I have noticed that the Buffer Level for the recorder bounces all over and has always in Win2k but in WinXP it stays full at 100%. Why is this and how do I fix it. The other question is, since flashing the firmware it burns CD’s slower now taking 6 minutes at 40X for a 700MB disk. Is this normal speed or slow? It seems much slower now.

Any help is appreciated.

#2

After flashing, you should now uninstall the drive from device manager and restart your computer so that it gets redetected.

#3

Ok I did that and not sure if it is faster but the Recorder buffer still bounces around from 100 to 10%. It took 4:46 for a 535 MB Burn.

Here is the log if this is any help.

You may want to enable your DMA

CdRomPeripheral : LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-832S atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-616T atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : AXV CD/DVD-ROM 2.2a a347scsi Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off
You may want to make sure your HDD is defragged and that you aren’t running other programs or surfing during the burn.

Thanks please. Setting that took care of the buffer for the burner bouncing around and the time for a 645MB disk was 2:42 minutes. Thanks alot. This has always bugged me when running 2K and it bounced. I’m guessing XP sets DMA mode automatically cause I had no problems ever on XP.

Also I can do other things now when before I could only burn.
