Burning problem with Plextor PX-740A

Hi all, this is my first post, and i really need help.

First of all i wish to excuse with you for my language errors - i’m not english mothertongue, and i’m a newbie.
So i need a double help from you…Anybody who will answer: please be as clear as you can. Thank you.

I’ve got a recording problem that’s driving me mad:
I just can’t burn cd and dvd with my new plextor PX-740A. Using a combo external case (usb and firewire). Reading is perfect, with both cd and dvd.

System Info:
Asus L2D
WinXP Home Ed, Service Pack 2
AMD AThlon XP 1600+ 1.18GHz 320 M ram
MoBo: Asus L2000D series notebook
Chipset: sis730s
Recording software: Nero 6.6.0.16
DMA: on
Px-740A Firmware upgrade: done

Every time i try to burn using firewire, Nero gives me the same error message:
Reset occurred - Disc Changed - Could not perform end of Disc at once.
Buffer level don’t move, it’s stucked on 0%. Recording in the first few seconds gets to 10% with
cd, to 0-5% with dvd and then Nero gives me the error message.

Every time i try to burn using Usb, the recording process stops at 10%, time on the Nero window continue to go (1h and over) and i’ve got to turn off my plextor to unblock (?).
Dma mode is on.
I tried installing ASPI drivers with ForceAspi: nothing changes.
I tried to burn a cd with another pc (with a simple recording prog – can’t remember the name, something like MyDvd, i think): process failed at 1% of recording.

I tried over 50 times: not one only cd or dvd is been written. Buffer level never started. Tried with sony, maxwell, magnex and verbatin media. Nothing.

I don’t know what else to do… Where’s my mistake? Can the plextor drive be defective?

Here’s the Nero log (with a cd).

Poor chipset in the external case, I’d bet.

hi.
You mean that the problem could be due to the low quality of the case chipset, so that the PX-740A can’t work like it should?
I just burned a dvd using the same case with an old LG GSA-4081B and it worked: dvd written without problems.
What to think…
Maybe the case chipset don’t work fine with newest drives…i don’t know.
