Yes, the data cable is the one with the connector that is about 5cm long and has two rows of holes in it. It is usually black but may sometimes be blue (the connector I mean, not the cable).
The power connector is the off white thingy which is about 2cm long and has 4 holes in it with metal stuff inside.
If the data cable is also securely connected then it is possible that you may have damaged it while pulling it out. Try changing this cable to a new one and see if solves your problems. It is usually the cheapest item that fails in a system because those are the ones which tend to be of the poorest quality. Nobody can be bothered to maintain high product standards when something is so cheap.
